Lyon Saint-Etienne Engineering Alliance

Towards a shared vision

Lyon Saint-Étienne Engineering Alliance is a unique educational and scientific initiative born from the strategic collaboration between four leading engineering schools in Lyon and Saint-Étienne.

In 2022, Centrale Lyon, ENTPE, INSA Lyon, and Mines Saint-Étienne united their expertise and resources to address three critical challenges: developing a low-carbon industry and society, advancing the circular economy, and fostering a responsible digital society.

Lyon Saint-Étienne Engineering Alliance represents an expertise-driven ecosystem dedicated to training engineers and scientists, promoting innovation and research, and generating knowledge and practical solutions. Its mission is to tackle emerging challenges and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable society for all.

Excellence for everyone

Lyon Saint-Étienne Engineering Alliance’s vision is built around five core values: scientific excellence, first-rate training, collective action, diversity, and a strong sense of the common good.

The fundamental principle underlying these values is our belief that engineering schools have a responsibility to generate positive and lasting impact on society. For this reason, Lyon Saint-Étienne Engineering Alliance affirms its commitments:

  • Engage with society and stakeholders to respond to their needs in training and research expertise.
  • Provide knowledge, resources and technologies to support major transitions.
  • Increase access to higher education in engineering domains through the creation of new programmes, updated recruitment models, and recognition of prior experience.
  • Support and guide industries in their transformation initiatives.
  • Support public transition policies
